Nice score on the valve covers . I picked up a set of 9 fin vintage covers for my sbc last year for about the same money on kijiji .

Somebody should alert the "burnout police". I'm getting closer. :)

1st task of the day completed. I removed the rear and finished welding the spring perches. I decided to use the Bilstein shocks I removed from the front of the 32. The width of the top was too wide for the mounts so I pressed out the spacers and shortened them in the lathe. I sawed of some of the flange on the rubber bushings to get that to fit the brackets. The bottom was set for 5/8" bolts so I made spacers to drop it to 1/2" It's back together and I'm ready for number 2. :)

Today's stopping point. In order to have clearance between the tank and the rear end, it required raising it above the frame rails 3". I chose that option rather than cutting and modifying the tank. I made risers out of 2 x 3 tubing. There is a bolt hole in each one where the lip of the tank is slightly notched for the bolt to go through. There will be a washer on the top side of the flange to give an added hold down area. There is a bar across the front and the 2 risers at the rear that will control any fore and aft movement. The side spacers had to be pie cut on one side as to line up with the outside of the frame rails. The 2  3/4" tube pieces on top will have mounts put on the front and there will be a little clearance on top so welting can be installed between the tank and the hold downs. The pic with the straight edge is verifying that the pump sump is the same depth as the front of the tank.

Break time! Pics of the front fuel tank mount, battery mount, rust and all, :) and some wheel shots. I had grown tired of ugly wheels. :)

Today's stopping point. The radiator is mounted. The used fan has been trimmed but no brackets made yet. The grille shell was eyeballed by the Flintstone method. :)

Your build has passed the sixty foot mark nice and quick, looks like a strong pass in the making. Wheel pictures good. From over here at chair, this is like watching an embryo develop. We know what its parents look like and we can see a heart, hands, and feet but anxiously await a peek at the new face. :D

Eyeball break. :) I made 2 brackets to hold the fan to the radiator support tubes. Then I went to work on filling the open area in the grille above the radiator. I decided that Matt always has fun grinding welds so I did the same. :) The truth is I welded some of the front side and decided that looked poor. I welded the back side and ground it all :)

Thanks for the comment, Matt. :)

I can't check in on this post every day...I get tired just seeing how much work you can get done in  a day, then still take pictures.

This post caused uproarious laughter first thing this morning. Thx, Crosley :)  Never know what will strike my funny bone.

I see a nose, KB. We are gonna need eyes to play peekaboo with it.

Afternoon break. I have removed the cab which involved removing a lot of the parts. I have it sitting on the firewall on a roll around cart. The pics show the cutouts for the rear spring front mounts. I have squared them up and I'm going to make plates to weld in. The weather is about to change here tomorrow with rain for the next couple of days. In order to put the cab back on, the chassis has to go outside for a little bit to position everything. The shop isn't wide enough to let everything pass at the same time. There's a few holes that will get patched on the bottom before it's uprighted. I'm going to run brake and fuel lines before installing the cab again. I have a plan. :)

kb...send some of that rain my way. The POCO contractors returned yesterday while we were gone. We came home to find that they had cut down the rest of the trees by the street. We were cutting and splitting more wood today. There was one elm tree which of course, was the largest. We tried a couple pieces of that. Ouch, very stringy.

Since we've run out of room to store the split wood, we're doing it the Scandinavian way (according to the net), where you stack it in a circle, similar to a bee hive. Eight foot circle to start. Looks like we'll have plenty of room for all that wood.

But...if you send me some rain, I won't be able to work out there.
