Tony, the fenders weren't part of my original thoughts but after reading some posts where people had mentioned that the wider cabs were a catch all, I may do something about that. The fenders I like look like the spare tire covers from the 30's with the rib. I think I can do that.

I was lookin at the black Ford truck that Carnut posted the pic of in the early part of your thread.

Obviously, the guy was going fenderless look.  Just seems to 'me' the truck screams for front fenders at least. Maybe less crud thrown on the body from the front tires?.  Maybe matching fenders on the rear.

The rib style you mention would add to the look, not so plain , yet different .  Perhaps some blended built  in running - turn lights in the  front  fenders?

I removed tar from the rear pinch weld seam. I trimmed the trans tunnel some more trying to get a straighter edge to work with. I'm not satisfied but I'm closer.

I had a few hours to work on the truck this afternoon. I have the floor behind the trans trimmed straight enough to move on to the next step. I installed a simple brace to replace where the floor was removed under the tail of the trans.

I made a little progress today. That's becoming common. I don't have a sheet metal shear so all the metal is cut which is slow. The 1st item was 2 16 gauge plates for the floor to tunnel supports. I bent them 90* and then welded them to the floor. I fabbed up a front driveshaft support and a lower rear. Then I made the rear trans tunnel. It needs trimmed and the cab support I welded in temporary is in the way.

Still able to follow the plot but that exhaust routing part is a bit fuzzy. If you could post a hologram so we can snoop in 3D, that would be great.  You did make a practice tunnel before that one, right? I heard if you use the first piece you made, you haven't done it right. Asking because I need a breadbox for my kitchen counter and that theres a beauty. Don't fret about the old and slow thing, the TV editors will trim it down to a barn found weekend project so you're good. I mean that now, good going KB!

I cut out the brace and started working on the "breadbox". I could see that mentally, I wasn't up to this. Must be "total eclipse of the brain" I quit for the day.

Matt, I finished up the 1st one last night and don't like it. However, you aren't getting a bread box, it's going to the scrap pile. That's where all prototypes end up. After I finished, I had a way better idea. I wish I could have those thoughts the first time. LOL I'm off to cut more metal. ( I have 4 hours in the scrap).

I really have a bread box now. I rolled the top and have straight sides. I have a little over 2 hours in this one and I'm ready to move forward.

Today's stopping point. I added some braces to the frame. The more I thought about what I had done, the less satisfied I was. There are several pics of floor mods preparing the floor for the tunnel. One pic is of the CAD device about to be utilized. The last couple show the tunnel roughed in. Lots more to do over at the O&S garage.

Yesterday I just thought I was slow. The pics are an assortment of the opening cut the last time, cad in operation, should we call it manual-cad? The parts clecoed together, removed for spot welding and then bolted down. The top will come off by itself for maintenance  purposes. I have the panel that will close the area between the breadbox and trans area left to do. Brain dead at the moment.  I just found that I hit the upload ceiling so I can't post anymore pics until something is done.

Heck yeah, once you close that bread box a loaf might stay soft all week!  This one is more like a mailbox. I like it.

There's a couple of small areas that I need to make some filler panels for but for the most part, the trans tunnel is completed.

Really nice work.  Funny how different people like different materials.  I work metal but I prefer fiberglass.  Most people are one or the other.  And old friend of mine was incredible with both and he was an oddity.

Good statement, John. If I could get past the itchys, I might be using fiberglass a lot.
I got started on the pedal assembly this afternoon. I have a plan in my mind that I believe will make this fairly simple. There's less angles on this one than the mustang unit I used in the 51. There will be angles mounting the steering column but not compound. Tomorrow will require a little thinking.
