Before and after lunch pics. :) Here we have the no-tech method of straightening the bed rail. There is a pic of the plug that I run up the rail and hammer to shape. The was a flat spot about 1/3 of the way that needed repair. It's way better now. In the left over parts pile was a pair of 3" Infinity Reference speakers. I had them all over the cab before deciding to use the dash speaker hole. The bracket is made from the driveshaft tunnel that I didn't like. I removed the fuel filler neck and shortened it and changed the angle of it.

Tony and Bob: you are correct. Part of this project was to stay under a set limit of dollars. :) That has limited some choices. The efi tank being one. If I end up using the 58 Ford quarter panels "cameo" style, the filler neck is limited. I'm aware of the pain to fill a short 90. Still thinking, changes may occur. :) Thanks for the input.

how about 2 45s and a tonneau cover :)

I had the good fortune to receive this from a friend today! This is one of the station wagon tops that people used on 32 sedans. :) How do you guys feel about bed covers? :)

That topper will look fabulous. I have a friend who took a 40s half ton and narrowed a 50s station wagon body enough to fit between the rear tires and then put the wagon roof on as a box cover . Blue with a white top . I think it was shown in 3 different car mags before he sold it . Next to no money in it . it was one of his scrap builds, (no mustang parts though). he used a hood cut in half for the side panels under the hood .

take a look at a66-69 American or a gremlin or a hornet. one of those might fill the bill
The last thing I want to do is hurt you. But it\'s still on my list

The topper plan , looks good.  Nice hinged setup.  Remote , lectric lift,  popup

How is the bottom of the bed area to be finished?

I understand the budget - dollars deal.  Here at Old & Slower in the southwest, there is no budget & then less

Tomslik, I'll look into the AMC deal. A hose with the proper bend would be the ideal answer. Tony, I'm going to have to put it on the ground to do some measuring and probably some cad work before I have an answer to the bottom of the sides.
Break time. I started today with removing the right bed side. The rail needed some more work and I needed to be able to see what I was doing. I hammered out many dents. When I installed the side back, I drilled 3 more mounting holes per side. I scraped undercoating off the bottom of the bed cover until my back told me it was time to stop. This is the air cleaner that I fabbed up. I think the filter fits a small tractor. The spigots are angle cut where they meet the flange. You can see space is a problem. I wanted this to fit inside the hood line if that gets done. :)

This morning, I walk past the engine and realize that I forgot to weld a hose barb on the air cleaner base for the crank ventilation hose. No excuses, just one more time. :)

This is really minor. I was using step down band clamps on the header pipes. There was a small leak on the right side so I removed them and welded them solid. Less noise is good. :)

Time to clean out the shop and do a few things not related to this project. I ran it outside and took a few shots.
