There will be another video as soon as youtube is done with their part. It didn't sound right the 1st time I cranked it over. I thought maybe my small cap conversion was the problem. I installed the original cap and looked on the internet for a firing order diagram. Found a hood sticker and put the wires in. Turned out to be the wrong one. The next video is of the correct firing order. The 1st wiring on my part was correct. It hasn't had time to do a heat cycle to program the ecu at this point. :)

Don't know if this is the type of bead you are looking for.  Made this one on a piece of exhaust tubing to use as a gas filler line with gas hose.  A little more time with the die would have given a smoother appearance.  Works great with no leaks.

The tool I used was made from a old pair of vice grips with a male and female die welded to the jaws to form the bead and include a stop to insure even spacing from the end of the tube.  Just work your way around the tube a couple of times to get the desired bead and smoothness.

Sorry about the size of the images, having a little trouble posting pictures here.

KB, I asked Mike about the hoses and I thought his idea was simple and effective... wrap wire around the pipe and TIG it in spots.

Thanks for the suggestions on the beads. I'm looking at the options to see if I can adapt something to a press or some hydraulic tool that I have.
Tonights mission was to have way less exhaust leaks. I connected a ground that I didn't think was real important. Now the idle air control and the fuel gauge works. :) I have a vacuum hose connected to the bap sensor so most of the richness is gone. The only exhaust leaks left are where the header extension connects to the under frame pipes. The 12 point bolt order arrived. :)

I only see about two band clamps and maybe half a dozen zip ties between you and smoky burnouts :0-0

Matt, thank you for your optimism. :) We'll see how the wiring harness diet progresses. I hope I don't have to join Weight Watchers. :)

This evening I swapped out some of the fasteners for 12 points. I have removed most of the wiring harness prior to dissection. :)

Really poor update. I removed the engine harness. I marked the connections that will be removed. I made another bolt list. I ran out of bolts before the seat mounts were finished.   USPS has my female spade connectors somewhere between Wichita and my mail box. I hope they arrive before this weekend. My goal is to get the wiring harness converted by the end of the weekend. I'm not happy with the left side exhaust so there will be a little more work done on it. The right side fits nicer so I know it can be done. :)

Lack of patience has arrived this evening. I made a small tool to put in my arbor press to bead the radiator tubes. The tool was the equivalent of the vise grip and plier methods that were suggested. I thought if I got them close, I could use the bead rolled to make them look good. Total failure. I welded a bead around each end, hit it with a 80 grit disc on the 4.5" grinder and assembled it. I'm not proud but I could waste too much time on this. I didn't have any of the other methods that were suggested at my disposal. I'm most disappointed in the dies I made for the bead roller. I will work with that after this is drivable. :)

If you was in the stall next to me I would say to you "sometimes done trumps perfect" and go on. If they don't leak, where's the sin?

Break time. The harness has been unwrapped and some of it separated. The tape the factory uses under the conduit is sticky stuff. :) I'm going to remove all the interior circuits that won't be needed first. With that gone, I'm going to see if I can separate the efi circuit from the main harness like a Painless stand alone harness. There won't be anything to rapid for a while. :)

The inside the cab harness has been removed of ac, abs, radio, seat buzzer, etc. This was the easy part. :)

Regarding the wire harness mods...  you are more brave than I am . I've modified  2  GM TBI  wire harnesses that were not near the complex of this one.  never again

Many newer cars already have harnesses in them, even if you don't have the options. For instance, my '14 Tacoma had the power wires above the inside mirror for my auto dimming mirror and other stuff. Same with a previous Subuaru Forester. Just put it all in there...maybe later you might need some of it?  Or another owner after you get done playing with it?
