Nice looking major fix!  8)  What did you do there? I'm guessing it was smashed?

Now for the question burning everyone's tongue:

How big of flakes?  :D

Looks like you narrowed the front for a skinny tire. I did the fenders and tanks for a buddy one time. No work needed, just strip and paint. The black came out beautiful. When he came to get them, he picked up one tank by the cap, and the cap came off. Nice quarter sized dent. Had to do a little work on that one.

Looks like he's taking a "Wide Glide" front fender and narrowing it to fit between "Narrow Glide" front forks. The Wide Glide rear fender is having it's chain cut out moved to the opposite side (Sportster?). Of course the term "Shovel Head" throws that idea out the window. GPster

Both fenders are aftermarket. The owner narrowed the front fender and modified using a mig gun. The rear fender is .038 thick. I re-welded what I didn't feel real comfortable with and then ground for a few hours. He brought over 2 sizes of flake. No promises as to what will be used. :) I will make sure that there are pics of the bike when this is completed. I haven't gotten much done today. I worked on the 51 and did yard work.

Some of you will be proud of me, some will be positive I've lost touch with reality. The flanges on the underneath side of the lovely front fender weren't even. A little file work and some block sanding and they look better. Plus, they shouldn't cut me when I finish sanding this wonderful fender. :)

Thanks, Bob. :)
The pics are of the front fender showing where it was worked, epoxy primer and the 1st application of high build primer.

Bob, unless you have see-through fenders, this jig isn't near strong enough. That's my excuse today. :)

Ahh..... A few of them ARE actually "see-through" or "lacy" .....

However I was planning to use those for patch-panel cutouts to repair the others
So ....If you can only handle the "See-Throughs", I will get them ready to go ASAP..
I also have some "two-parters"...Those may fit the jig one part at a time & then be "re-united" at a later date :?:  :?:

Bob, that's really enticing but the colder weather is setting in and I'm done till I don't know when. :)
Here's the fenders in the 2nd application of primer. I'm worried that it will take 1 more time. I'm going to let these sit until sunday afternoon and sand them again. Monday is the last day in the forecast to be warm enough to paint and have 60 degrees in the shop at night. I really would like to get color on these before I quit.
