Hey Tony, since you are the "tranny" guy here, and I trust your opinions,
what is the difference if any, of a torque converter for a TH350, and a Powerglide? how can you tell the difference? do they interchange?
sorry to sound like a sugared-up 5 year old, but I wanna catch a problem before it becomes a problem

Thanks Tony.

   OK, now I'm scared!!!! so I guess if the 'verter slid onto the front pump, it must be for a 'glide, so I can quit worrying, right?
can't help it, my wife says I think like a Medic all the time, too anal retentive.
but when someones life is in your hands, ya gotta be anal!!

Thanks for the advise guys.

you should be!

maybe, maybe not.
i know a 'glide converter will fit into a 350 but won't move the car cuz the splines don't mesh...

So let me get this right, a 'glide converter will fit a TH350, but a TH350 won't fit a 'glide.

so if I'm fixin' (that means about to do something, for you non-texans) to put a 'glide in my coupe, the converter slipped onto the front pump ok. when in park and neutral, you can spin the converter, but when you drop it in gear, you cannot turn the converter. sound right? :?
any help would be appreciated.

wrong, the converter will turn all the time, dropping it in gear won't make any difference.
what i'm saying is the glide converter will physicly fit into the pump on a 350 but the splines on the input shaft WILL NOT mesh and yer gonna be *.....
i was:(

been years, will the input shaft pull out of the glide?
try it in the converter you plan on using.
if it fits, you're ok.
if it bounces around in there like a BB in a box car, find a different converter.

Ya ask a simple question, and this is what you get!!

put the alleged 'glide converter on, fits like a glove. spun the converter with in gear, and the output shaft spins, so I'm guessing its a 'glide converter.

you guys are really starting to worry me
