I was thinking he was making chilli

Naw ...It's Ken & George that make the DYN-O-MITE chili....In the BIG pot with unknown fixin's ...  8)

I was kinda thinkin' along with Joe....  But the truck has that big, "Stomp here To Start" button above the accelerator pedal .. ( You can see the linkage at the top of the bellhousing in earlier photos ) ...
My guess is a recess or dimple for clearance somewhere on the firewall.... :?:

I have the spoon installed. I needed a dimple for the alternator adjuster in the left inner fender panel.  I would have hammered it in, but there was a rib running through one side of the area that needed the dimple, so it seemed easier to just fit the spoon in, and weld it in place.

I finished up the floor pan, cut the new shifter hole, painted it, and coated the bottom with lizard skin.

I finally got all the right fittings to hook up the oil filter lines with out it looking like an oil well head. It still took more than I wanted. I got some of the interior panels back from the painter, they came out nice.

I found a boot that will fit the Ebrake handle on Ebay,  I made a CAD pattern for a hold down ring, that will be .090" aluminum. I finally figured out a battery hold down, but right now it's still just a concept.

I started running some grounds here and there as I see the need, cab to frame, alternator, AC compressor, electric fan, ect. I also installed the speedo cable with a stand off to keep it off the exhaust, and brake pedal linkage, and a return spring on the brake pedal.

More done today. Even though the fuel tank was moved to the rear of the truck, the owner still wanted a fake filler neck on the cab. I made one up that would fit in the stock grommet, made a gasket to seal it to the side of the cab, and installed it where the original was.

That's a different level of phony. :) Most unusual request.

I suggested a locking cap, so no one would try to add fuel there.

What about tack welding a freeze plug about 3"or 4" down the pipe so nothing could be inserted into the filler neck  :?:

Think of taking the "Unleaded Fuel Only" disc to a whole new level ....

WAIT ...I GOT IT ....

Use the top of a filler neck from an older unleaded fuel tank & tack weld the little door thingie closed

That way the OE filler cap could still be used to maintain the "stock" look

WOW..Back to the coffee cup.....My head hurts.....  :?

There, there, Bob, don't get yourself all excited, you know how you break out when you do. It's already plugged with a steel plate. The can of snakes idea has some merit

No pictures right now. I have been doing little things that don't show too much.  I installed new dovetail cushions in the door frame, and installed the door bumpers and hinges. I located the position of the seat belt anchors, drilled the holes, fabricated mounts for the seat belt, and sent them out for powder coating. The spoon recess idea looked good, but was not big enough, so I fabricated a larger recess, and sent that out for coating. It will bolt into the inner fender.

The owner was here friday and was happy with every thing except the paint texture on the dash board, and the color of the interior trim. So those are back at the body shop and powdercoaters respectively to be refinished. He brought along the bed and rear fenders, they are ready to install.

I made hold downs for the AC and heater hoses, and secured them out of the way. I installed a 12 volt pass through into the firewall so I can pick up power both inside and outside the cab. The glass came in last thursday, so I am preparing the windshield frame and door window frames for powder coating. Lot of pitting on the windshield frame, so I am using Lab Metal to fill it. That will stand the heat of powder coating.

I installed the Newport wiper system, it bolted right in, except the passenger side wiper shaft was in the wrong position, so I had to move it up about 3/16", then enlarge the hole from 3/8" to 5/8".

that's all for now.

Another update. I set the timing, and wired the distributor. I also installed the headlight junction blocks, and finished wiring the fan switch, and wipers. I have LED bulbs in the tail lights, and I am installing single terminal LED bulbs in the parking lights. with a small bread board I can run the parking lights in a dimmer mode for parking lights, and a bit brighter for turn signals. It takes less than $10 in parts to do both sides. I'll take pictures when I build them

Was the owner upset with the color choices or more like, let's change that? Cheap electronics are quite startling anymore. The music equipment I'm working on has some real surprises. :)
