Holley Performance Products acquired the MSD Group this week in a deal that brings a massive group of iconic automotive performance brands under the Holley umbrella.

The acquisition was announced late Wednesday and terms of the deal were not disclosed. New York private equity firm Lincolnshire Management, which manages about $1.7 billion, provided financial backing.

The El Paso, TX-based MSD Group includes popular brands like MSD, Mr. Gasket, Accel, Superchips, Edge, Racepak, Mallory, Hays, QuickTime, and Lakewood.

Already owned by Bowling Green, KY-based Holley are Hooker Headers, Flowtech, Earl's, NOS Nitrous Oxide Systems, Demon, Weiand, and DiabloSport.

"Were are excited to have the opportunity to combine the awesome legacies of these companies," said Tom Tomlinson, Holley's president and CEO. "We are aggressively developing innovative new products at Holley and we're going to continue to build upon the fine job the MSD Group is already doing with new products.

"Our goal is to offer solutions to automotive enthusiasts so they can achieve their goals in the pursuit of their automotive passions. We look forward to working with the MSD Group team... to marry our technologies and talents to build these solutions."

I'm excited to see racepak and holley efi operating under the same
Company, both products should work together.

The big brands under one roof upset me.

Before if I wanted an ignition setup I had a choice of MSD, Accel, or Mallory. They were all competing for my bussiness and kept pricing a bit in control. Now if they are all owned by the same company the pricing competition is out the window and we all pay more.

It is the same with intakes Weiand and Holley together. Edelbrock is big enough to keep those in line.

Carbs, Holley and Demon together. Again Edelbrock is competing.

What happens if Holley and Edelbrock merge?

I commented in the FITech thread about their upcoming success and buy-out. If it works as well as anticipated, they will be acquired by one of the big boys.

Seems like Colt Industries owned most of all the performance stuff a bunch of years ago.  Broke up at some point and now here we go again.

Years ago, I knew some folks on the inside.  Not any longer.  When Holley was falling apart, the ppl I knew left.

That was during the time when Holley owned Pete's So-Cal bizness... while everybody was denying Holley owned it.

I worry about lack of competition and prices.  i wonder if any old  brand names will disappear quietly?

Yes, agree tomslik. Quik fuel carbs & parts.  I have a couple parts  on my Falcon Bom 6 cylinder inline.

that Quality disappearing comes along with competition disappearing n the market place , I think?

MSD in China?  Heckle , , all of it is off shore now.  Secially the knock off stuff , clones of MSD and others
