I have been wanting one of these for some time, so I built one the other day. I started with a plastic ammo box from Harbor Freight. I installed a 12 volt computer battery in it, it's rated at 10AH. I installed a voltmeter so I can check the battery charge, and three power circuits. The first one had a momentary, polarity reversing switch to check things like actuators, and power locks. The second circuit has a non reversing off/on switch that will turn the power on and hold it. The third circuit has always on circuit on different banana plugs than the other two. I also have a momentary switch to power up the voltmeter so it doesn't have a constant draw. I also added a 1 amp 12 volt charger to keep the battery up. All circuits are fused. The test leads have pin probes on the end, with screw on alligator clips. I have about $40 in the whole rig, some of the parts came out of old builds

Nicely done.  Neat and professional.

As we all would have expected, considering the source
