Looking good. You'll be driving (and overdriving) before spring.

In Maine you have a little extra time than most.

Have been busy the past week.  Rebuilt the rear braking system, removed the old transmission and cut cross member out.  Installed adapter on bell housing and installed the T5.  Sounds easy but I'm tired :) .  Need to fab a transmission mount, rework the parking brake setup and source a drive shaft about 50" long.  Tom...

Tom, in case you need a new drive shaft, a place called Shaftmasters was the lowest price with a good reputation that I found a year ago. In regards to your "last project" statement, There's a bunch of us singing along with Vince Gill. One more last last time. :)

Does the shift tower clear the floor Okay? It should as big as the old Powerglides were. Is it going to clear the seat Okay?

Frank, the shift tower is  ahead of the seat by about 4"  with seat all the way back.  I haven't checked with the seat all the way forward yet.  There is a large cover that screws down over the hump and I have it out and will need to cut a hole in it for the shift lever to come thru.I think one of those Lokar double bed shifters for a T5 will work out fine.  I'll snap some pics next week.  Tom...

I heated and reshaped the gooseneck stub of the orig.  S-10 T5 shifter to move the stick forward and left in my `63 C-10. That, along with a homegrown short throw mod using a 3/4" thick piece of polypropylene puts it right to hand beside my knee.

Popular front suspension swap for these Chevs in OZ is the Jaguar Series 1, Series11,  Series 111 , XJ6  .  The latter 2 models have decent ventilated discs with 4 spot calipers. The  whole assembly looks like they were intended for Chevs .   You can fit them with factory  stock rubber mounts.  Exactly how Jaguar fitted them .The Chev rails are spot on.   Advantage is that the bolt pattern is also Chev  and they have a power rack.
If you do rubber mount as per Jaguar. Make sure you use the Jag intermediate shaft with its universal that absorbs the front suspension movement without pushing the steering column.  Some  Mazda SUV s  have a splined intermediate shaft that will do the job.
For shock absorbers.   VW Beetle  with  fabricated upper  brackets welded to the spring towers   due to Stock Jag  vehicle using the inner fender panel as an upper mount.

Well after a long hiatus, I'm back again. In May I came down with some viral arthritis that affected every joint in my body.  eventually they all returned to "normal" except my wrists and hands which they say is rheumatoid. With the help of some good(?) drugs I have about 95% of my strength back in my hands and wrists.  So the last few weeks I have been puttering again.  Picked up a pair of Stromberg BXV 2 Carbs that all my old stock car friends tell me was THE carb for 6 bangers in the day, and went thru them-  different looking anyway.  This week I started taking the hood, grille and bumper off in preparation for the engine swap.  More to come hopefully.  Tom...

Back again. got the engine ready to pull, but first wanted to make up some lines for the Carburetors and also some lines from the exhaust manifolds to the intakes for carb heat while the new engine was on the stand and I could get to it easier. Used 5/16 copper nickel for the carb lines ans 3/8 soft copper for the heat.  Took awhile to make the bends all come out right as I'm left handed and think backwards    Anyhow they  look pretty good to me- soft beds and no kinks.  Tom...
