Since there is no cheap way to get a overdrive trans behind the 460 I have in my 66 F250 I have decided to change it to a 1/2 ton so I can get taller gears, this truck beat me to death so can I just remove leaves from the rear springs or would it be better to get 1/2 ton springs. Along with trying to squeeze a little more gas mileage out of the 460 I want it to ride much better too.

How many leaves are in your spring pack? Any idea how many springs are in a half-ton spring pack?

If you decide to pull leaves don't remove adjacent leaves. As each leaf provides support to the next one longer you don't want to end up concentrating too much flex in one part of the spring.

How tall are you wanting to go. Randys Ring and Pinion has as tall as 3.54. What are you planning on doing to the front or are you leaving the 3/4T suspension there plus the 8 lug wheels?

It has 3.54 gears now and I am thinking about going to 3.00,I am changing the front and rear and going to 5 lug so tires will be cheaper.
