Steering column top puller

On the GM van tilt columns, the top cover is pressed on. When they were new it would come off with some gentle persuasion, but since the newest ones are near 25 years old So I designed a puller to pop them off.

The problem is, the cover is made of very thin metal, and bends easily. There is also a lip rolled in on the top edge that makes it hard to get hold of. So the puller I designed collapses to fit inside the lip, then you expand it with two bolts for a tight fit.Then you use the push bolt to pop it off.

I have used it once, it worked like a champ

Great idea and nice work! Maybe you could rent it out....like once every two years or so.  :D

Sorry, wrong answer.  I had all this money to invest, but I had to do it right now because of the tax man, so I've invested it all in wicky stidgets... :shock:
