I went over to my aunt's and picked up the Marlin today. She asked me to check the mouse trap, one of George's traps. There were 12 mice and a bird in it. That is the most I have ever caught. There was at least one more in the Marlin, so it has some traps in it tonight to try to catch it.
Welcome to hell. Here's your accordion.

I had some on/off issue with I guess a mouse? in my car. I could hear it then it would go away etc.,I finally resorted to having to leave it where I got my cars serviced..of course they could not find it/evidence.
One day when I pulled in my drive with the windows down I happened
to see a small to medium size owl..pretty rare! only about maybe 8-10 feet away sitting on top of my fence post..woah.
I didn't move..neither did it..I just wanted to go in my house..I got out of the car very quietly. On the way to the house I thought..that owl probably knows about this thing and wants to eat it as soon as possible

Never heard the noise again

I set up one of George's  traps at a friends garage that was having mouse problems. He leaves the garage door open a lot and said there was always mice in the garage and sometimes in the house. (Attached garage)  It's been there over a month and so far no mice in trap.....
But he hasn't seen any mice in the garage either.......maybe the mice are scared now!

After reading Frank's quest review I decided to go to the attached garage attic too check my trap. It was the first time this spring I've been up there since last fall. Now through the winter there occasionally were some mouse noises in the house attic from time to time but it never lasted. You know, wife complains, I wait two days to act and by then the rustling has stopped. Today I found an Olympic swim/dive team of 5 little peanut butter eating, nocturnal scratching and generally annoying vermin doing the anti-freeze break dance at the bottom of my George Von Trapp. My only thoughts are, with two traps would I catch twice as many and/or does the bait attract the critters too my property.
Thanks George as this seems to be working swell and my home attic is a PIA to get too.

we got 6 cats. what's a mouse?

Whats a mouse? Depends who you ask. Most young kids will think of the computer mouse before the fuzzy one.

Most people have a higher than average number of legs.

Hello;
Question: Would this trap work for rats as well??

With rats, you would need lots of liquid in the pail so they can't leap out.

river1 thanks for the video. I was unfamiliar with George's trap. Is the pot anything special? We have an issue every fall at work with the little buggers. I would like to make one of these.

I just use a 5 gallon bucket and I found that a thin wire works better than a rod going thru the bottle.  If cats or dogs are around you could use a lid on the bucket to keep them out of the anti freeze, then mount the wire/bottle a little lower and cut a window in the side near the top big enough for the mouse ramp but too small for a larger animal to get in. Dogs & cats can't get in my storage buildings so I've only done the open bucket version.

I like to use anti freeze, not only because it doesn't freeze but it seems to preserve the little guys so they don't stink. You can let them pile up a while before emptying.

Here's some threads about other people's versions.

Beck, I don't think you need any pot, the peanut butter alone seems to do the trick.
Kidding aside folks, here's a 4 year update.
I pulled 6 meeces from my garage trap last spring, a good winter haul. To my surprise last fall while checking, in preparing for this winter, I noticed another single had taken a spin on the wheel of death during the summer. Why wasn't he outside playing instead of being in my garage on his cell phone!
A side note; apparently four years isn't a stretch for bait butter as I only reapplied some fresh stuff last fall, the first time since the original installation,.
As mentioned, I am also extremely pleased with the embalming nature of anti-freeze and its apparent non evaporation properties. I haven't replenished any fluid since I first installed this unit with I gallon of 100% strength.
Come on spring.

I also use the bucket of death with the anti-freeze, but I get a bonus!!!  After I collect a few mice in the anti-freeze, I dump them by the back fence and soon the the stray cats are fewer.
(Just kidding)

Not me, I want people to know "why" I look this way.
