I'm going on short notice for a 2 week work assignment to California. My work and hotel will be in Colton, just south of Riverside. Anyone know of car related activities out in that area? I'm on a bit of a shoestring for this trip but I know it's well into car season in that area.

Thanks. I'm not going to just wander about looking for something to do, I'll want to know where I'm headed due to the work location. Today I ate my lunch tacos in a place with bars on the windows...I'm not afraid of it but just wandering about such areas looking for something to do might lead to involvement in activities which I'd rather avoid.

I am going to L A this fall.  I have to choose between the NHRA Museum and the Peterson.  I could use a little help deciding.

If your taste runs more to drag racing then do the NHRA. If you lean towards street hotrods and customs do the Peterson. Peterson is larger and will take more time so your time allotment might make your choice for you.

Both are cool and you can't go wrong either way

Excellent advice, thanks. I have Monday and Tuesday on my own, should be able to find something good in the place where hot rodding began.

The Petersen on Tuesday looks like my best bet so far.

I think I have a Tuesday plan, to visit the Petersen and the USS Iowa battleship in San Pedro. They're reasonably close together and an Iowa drivers license gets you into the battleship for free. The March Airfield Museum would be VERY cool but both the Petersen and March are closed on Mondays. No shows, and the NHRA museum will be closed BOTH my days off. Now I just need to figure Monday out.

the TMZ tour of hollywood runs 7 days a week...

there is also universal studios tours...

there are also several car builders out on that end of town..

hot rods by barry... or what ever his shop is called..

there is also stuff at the CHINO airport...  thats where they filmed 12 o clock HI.. as my friend was on the production crew there.

between the IOWA and the peterson.. is the exposition park.. there is an space shuttle endevor sitting there on display and a A12, 2 seater variant of the SR71 sitting on display next to the parking lot...  off the harbor freeway northbound at martin luther king blvd.. or south bound at exposition blvd.

probably be a lot more impressive close up.. rather than flying over my back yard...

and yes there is a lot of slack in those high voltage wires. trash truck hooked the cable strand and pulled the pole over when it was freshly replaced.

Here is a good little article describing someone else's trip to LA.

IMHO Marcels is a do not miss and barry whites street rod shop is across the street so you get two for one
