Orignal GM OEM heater hose/line salvage

My 95 GMC needed a heater hose replaced, the parts stores don't carry
them! That means dealer part. I tried some thing Wayne told me about!

I wanted to completly remove the line from the manifold for the chop but
Wayne warned about the factory quick connect fitting sometimes breaking
leading to more problems !

So I did it with the line on the truck and it worked out well.

I used a small cutting wheel and split the factory hose fastening collar (Alu), then with a pair of plyers peeled the collar off, this exposed the
hose and I just used a sharp knife to split it! Just take your time and don't
cut to deep!

Mine broke off, so I drilled it out and put a pipe bushing in then a pipe nipple. Works fine.

seems there are 2 heater hose quick connectors available ..

the 800-401 or 800-401.5 depending on the package.. seems to be the steel version...

when using the easy out.. as this is different size than a plumbing easy out.. you might want to use some localized propane heat to soften the sealant that GM puts on the threads...  without getting it so hot you damage the intake gasket...

also if you find a broken version..   look for broken motor mounts also...

Well it turned out that the factory fitting started leaking (seeping)! I removed the factory fitting from the manafold without braking it , I did heat it abit ( 1 min) with some map gas! Takes a 1 1/16" wrench. The small leak showed up with a presure tester. Time to get ready for winter!
