I have what I believe is an 8" or 9" Ford rear end in my car. Because I did not build the car I am not sure. The axles are 28 spline and there are markings on the case that say C70W4025A or C7OW4025A. I am not sure if the 3rd character is a zero or an O. There are also markings that say DIF and there is a FORD logo on the other side of the case. Any help identifying if this is an 8" or 9" would be appreciated. I have the feeling that is is out of a 69 or 70 Mustang or Maverick as this was what I purchased the brake shoes and drums for.

the way I tell the difference is if you can't get a socket on the bottom bolt of the 3rd member to remove the bolt then it is a 9". An 8" you can get a socket on.  Go to this page and it will show you what I'm refering to.
