700 R4 Question

I have an 84 700r4 in an 84 Blazer 4x4 that is shifting through 3rd fine but it seems to be going in and out of od or maybe in and out of lockup at hiway speeds with very little throttle pressure.  I have adjusted the tv cable correctly.

Also is the shift pattern 1-2  2-3  3-4 lockup or does lock up come in 3rd

I believe that what I am feeling is the convertor coming in and out of lockup, cause I can manually go to 3rd and feel the shift.

The tranny is stock

Should I put in a lockup kit???

The motor is a wore out 305 with 267000 miles (I am building a new 350) could this be the culprit?

un plug the electrical connector at the tranny.  this will isolate if the converter is locking / unlocking.

It will also help you determine if the tranny is going into 4th gear for sure.
