Went to a small town car show this summer that's was close to home. We parked the car and in an open spot close to a corner and since the sun was blaring down on the side of the street we parked on, we set up our chairs on the opposite side in the shade. We where sittin behind a nice coupe, about a 36 if I remember correctly. Lots of people looking at all of the cars when this guy walks up to us and said, "Nice car, I'm glad you didn't BASTERDIZE it with a Chevy motor." To that I replied, "O this isn't my car, it is nice though," the coupe, "my car is parked across the street, the 40 Ford with the Chevy engine in it." The guy just raised one eyebrow and walked on.  I laughed it off at first but the more I thought about it the madder I got. I realize everyone is entitled to their own opinion but I put in a hell of a lot of time and a bundle of money in this project. It's like my parents used to tell me when I was a kid, if you don't have something nice to say keep your opinions to yourself.  I've thought of a few humorous whips for the next time this happens. Still ticks me off when I think about it. Glad I got that off my chest, I feel a little better know, until the next time.

Should have asked him what he had built lately.  Probably just a wannabe.

I agree. Just another opinionated *. I had a guy make a comment about my car a couple of years ago, and I politely said, "Well, when you build a car, you can do it your way."

I think it is too easy to put a Chev in anything. Although I admire the cars that do have them. I believe "A Ford in a Ford"
I'm working on a '51 Ford Victoria that will have a 351W in it. It ain't easy.

I bet his Escort has a Ford motor in it.

Fatcat's escort has a LT1 in it.

An engine is an engine, is an engine. I really don't care. If you want to be a purist, be one, but don't bother me with it. You tell me what you want, and I'll build it. These are hot rods, not restorations.

No reflection on any one here.
Welcome to hell. Here's your accordion.

Yep, if God didn't intend for SBC's in early Fords he wouldn't have made it so easy to do.

Couldn't agree with you more.  On a lighter note, I just got a call from a friend of mine who is at Hershey.  He said he was at a vendor who had a tricked out flathead on a stand running like the proverbial Swiss Watch.  Some smart * said "make it run like a Chevy".  The vendor pulled of 4 plug wires and said  "OK". :)  Tom...

Leave the hood closed, 99% of people will never notice what is in it.

I have a Willys CJ with a Ford in it,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, does that count?
It takes all sorts   I know it's annoying but I guess that sort of thing comes from having the courage to put our hobby out there for all to see. Anyone who would openly make a comment like that obviously doesn't understand the hobby,,,,,,,,,,,,, Build it the way YOU want. );b(  Sort of puts us back to another thread we had going awhile back,,,,,,
it's all just part of the hobby
What\'s that noise?,,, Never mind,, I\'ll check it later

My favorite incident was the guy at a local AMC show that gave Enjenjo a hard time for not putting a AMC motor in his Marlin. After he chest thumped for a few minutes about how it was sacrilegious for him to put a Chevy engine in it, Enjenjo asked him what rear-end was in his pro-street Javelin. The guy replied it has a Ford rear-end. Enjenjo responded to the effect that he was less of a man because he did not use an AMC rear-end to which the guy replied that it was cost prohibitive to have a narrowed AMC rear-end to be built. Enjenjo then told him that he had just made his point for him and walked away.
