a friend has a 86 Chevy truck with a diesel engine. his tranny went south it is a 700R4 but he said that since it is a diesel engine, a gasoline 700R4 from a car will not work. Is there a difference between a diesel and gasoline tranny? thanks, Larry

diesel torque converter is different stall rating (lower)

The governor and valve body are calibrated for lower RPM shifts
