DRD57

I drove it today. Just around the parking lot at the shop. It's still on a DMV no-op so I can't legally drive it on the street yet.

It's still iffy as to whether I'll drive it to Bonneville though. Still lots of stuff to do.

I still have to install the fenders, running boards, headlight bar, headlights, front turn signals, front apron, seat belts, trunk lid and trunk hinges. The trunk hinges are going to take some fabrication. It also needs an alignment and the rear ladder bars need some adjustment because the car doesn't sit level. That's the only thing that I can think of to level it because it's buggy sprung at both ends.

I had a few snags getting it started. First the distributor was 180 degrees off. Once I got that corrected it would only start and run on whatever gas was poured in the carb.  A pressure test of the fuel pump indicated the suck and blow hoses were switched. Got that corrected and then there were a few vacuum leaks to deal with. Got those fixed and then adjusted the timing and dwell and it runs like the new motor that it is. Then I discovered a huge tranny leak. The hose clamps (cheapos) on the cooler lines stipped and the lines were leaking like they were disconnected. New clamps fixed that.

I need a different radiator cap. The one that I have doesn't fit quite right and it doesn't seal pressure at all.

There's a few cosmetic things I want to do to. Mexican blanket over the seat, rubber floor mat, and a friend who is a graphic artist is going to paint the few new bits to match the tired old green paint.

You can make it Don.  I want to see it on the salt.  If we can get this race car done, I bet you can get your car done.  Of course yesterday we had 5 of us working on the race car and Friday night there were nine.  I got up at 5 this morning and I am headed to the shop soon.  Somedays it seems like we are almost done and then the next minuet I think of a whole lot of stuff to do.   When I sit down, I read the rule book and then that makes me think of stuff to change or make.  Today I am working on the rear spoiler, paint the front clip, and working on the tool box for the trailer.  I am going to suffer some abuse and ridicule for the tool box but we have to have something fast, lockable, and weather proof.

Quote from: "DRD57"I drove it today. Just around the parking lot at the shop.

My first ride in Hot Stuff was short.  Up and down the driveway was better than sex. Well, almost.  Shortly after it was taged I drove it to Little Rock, about 200 miles total.  No problems.

So get to it.  I'll be disapointed if Crosley does not post a picture of you at speed when he gets back from B'ville.

You are doing good.
