in the meantime...

somebody came up with my shifter...

http://www.speedwaymotors.com/4-Speed-Stock-Car-Shifter,2670.html  64 bucks...

this looks like it bolts to a bracket on the floor.. instead of the side of the transmission..

i wonder if this will fit your shift shafts...

http://www.speedwaymotors.com/Transmission-Shifter-Arm,8442.html

it does not say....

i will check my friends shop here in la in the next few days...

wayne petty

check this out also...

http://www.summitracing.com/search/Brand/Hurst-Shifters/Product-Line/Hurst-Shifter-Replacement-Parts/?autoview=SKU

there are a bunch of various versions... including some that seem to have 45 degree angles on the shift shaft slot...

if you can.. take a picture of the shifter side of the transmission with all the shift shafts in neutral....  and post it...  or photobucket ...  so i have an idea of what angles to look for...

i don't know how many different T10 combos there are...

Wayne,
The link to Summit really helped. I called their tech line and got part numbers for the parts. These are Hurst #'s.

 Tranny levers:   1-2------ 105 8026
                         3-4--------105 8032
                         Rev--------105 8006 [8025]

The Mr Gasket #'s have the last 4 digits the same on levers and rods.

    Shift rods       1-2---------- 213 6102  I have this one
                         2-3-----------213 6104  I NEED THIS ONE
                         Rev----------- 213 6124   I have this one

Summit didn't have any thing I needed.
I am going to swap meets the next couple of week ends. I'll be looking when I get there.
I'll try to post a pic of side of tranny.

            Thank you,
             Hooley

Wayne,
It is a Mr GAsket     V-Gate  shifter. An inline 4 speed shifter. A little odd but a great racing shifter.   Hurst bought the patent rights to it.  So that is why they have two sets of part numbers.

i don't know if that will help or not...

you will want to download this... hurst catalog...  probably print out page 29... its the installation kits contents...   play bingo with the part numbers you listed...  when you find a kit that includes all the numbers you need... you have won bingo....  B, i , n, g, o...     well you know the tune...  only thing better than that tune.. . is the sound of a screaming race motor as it passes the timing beams on the top end...

http://www.hurst-shifters.com/hurst-shifter/catalog/HurstCatalog_web.pdf

i also know that nobody is made of money... so... i will still search after you post a picture of the side of the transmission... so i might know more about what levers you need...

Hooley

Wayne,
When I was talking to the tech guy at Summit yesterday he found the install kits and checked on them and they aren't avallable any more. Too bad It looked like something there would work.  Still looking.

A little more progress on the 974. I put together a 3:00 gear yesterday and put it in the car.      yea, I can still lay on my back and throw a third member in the housing.  Today I'll get the brakes done and put some of the panels back on.  I may try to fire the engine the first of next week.   It is all falling to place and 35 days till we leave for Texas.

I will fix the air dam next week.  I may start on it Saturday as it looks like the weather will keep us from drag racing this weekend.

The 35 Ford goes home this evening.

Hooley

Wayne,
You have spent a lot of time looking this stuff up and I appreciate it.
Sorry I didn't get some info back to you.
Here is what I have found out.       Install Kit     #  373819   I think
The levers are at 45* angle ti the rear of tranny.
Reverse lever------ 105-8006 Hurst #  Mr. G # 8006
1-2 lever________ 105-8026 Hurst#   Mr. G # 8026
2-3 lever_________105-8032  "      #[8025] maybe

I need rod _____213-6104 Hurst #   96104 Mr. G
I need Rod_____213-6124 Hurst#    A guess at 96124 Mr. G

on the parts I have the numbers are stamped on them which would help ID them when we find some. I going to a swap meet in Tulsa tomorrow

Thank you,
Hooley

I looked up this Install kit and it list it on straight and angled levers. I become more confused.

At the swap meet today I found some levers that looked right.  Got them home and it looks like they will work. Tomorrow I go to the Mo-kan drag strip where there is old time drags and a Swap meet. I'll look there also . May be luck into a shift rod.

I started work today repairing the damage to the bottom of Hooley's air dam.  The air dam got into the salt last year at speed and the lower part was ground away.   The resulting hole and the separation made a 200 mph scoop shovel.

I shaped a large piece of foam to make a support so that I could lay up some fiberglass to rough shape the front of the air dam.  Tomorrow I will clean up the back side and taper the areas where the new and old glass meet.  Then I will lay up the back side of the new area.  Later in the week I will grind and shape the new glass and do the body work.  I think I have fixed this piece a couple of times before.
