Taking a little trip north next week, planning a route. My interstate driving has been Detroit,  I-75 to and around Atlanta. Not great streetrod driving. So I'm wondering how bad I 65 north from say Montgomery to Louisville would be? Anyone drive it?  Thanks Skip :?:

Skip, I drive out of Atlanta about a couple of dozens a time of year to INDY and used to drive I75 to I24 to I65 on up.  The problem with the that route is going thru the middle of Chattanooga, over Mount Eagle, then Nashville can be a parking lot for sure, then a couple of major construction sites on up the way, plus the traffic is far heavier...esp in large trucks!

I like going I 75 better because I skirt Chattanooga, and while the busiest place is definitely where I40 combines at Knoxville, but then a breeze to Lexington and a very nice drive to Lville on I 64.  That way is about 15 miles further than the other route but I find that I can drive at a more constant pace with far less truck traffic especially. Usually a wash on time, better roads, less traffic, no major cities and plenty of Crystals along the way

You got me scratching my head and checking my map!  I-65 runs north/south in Ala. Keeps me west of Atlanta and Chattanooga but would run me into Nashville. I take it Nashville could be a problem? I should go thru about noon thursday.  Skip :?

I-65 is easy thru Montgomery because it is a small city. Birmingham is busy with I-65,I-59,I-20 in north  Bham and part of I-65 is older concrete. After Bham fresh
payment or good road to Nashville. Nashville isn,t bad except for rush hour
or if you are on I-24 {always under construction]. Easy drive from Nashville to the Looeyville fairgrounds ,the last 50 miles 6 or 8 lanes. I live
in lower middle Tn. and just came back from Tampa. I-75 is much, much
more congested than I-65. I am leaving early Friday and I am only 1 hr
from Nashville going on I-65. easy drive mostly rural interstate except for
Bowling Green and it is a very small city. The corvette museum is in Bowling Green and it is right next to I-65 and it and the vette plant tour are well worth stopping for .   Have a safe trip!!!
