wheel studs too short

I have '65 Econoline front spindles on the "T" and "Wheelsmith" (stock) wheels ,( they have the multi bolt pattern on them). My STOCK wheel studs only go flush with the end of the stud when full tight.Any ideas before I have to replace the studs? Or just buy some old Ford wheels?

or turn down the lenth on your nuts.... :shock:

Butch ,is this T full fendered. What axle are you using. I have econoline spindles for my T and would like to use a proper axle rather than ream out my spindles.

one might want to look at the first page of this next section...

as there are several with .640+ knurl sizes...  but 9/16" thread that might give you the length you need .. but you will have to increase your lug nut size...

as possible replacements.. but.. they are 9/16 thread...


you might want to verify the availability of lug nuts to fit your wheels first...   or ...  and its a BIG OR..   look in the metric section..

only a few that are close.. and those are variations on 14MM thread..   14x 1.5 and 14 x 2.0..

perhaps.. the 610-455.... slightly small on the knurl.. but nice and long. but it might be easier to find lug nuts for 610-331 @14x1.5 thread..

please be careful and use greased grade 8 flat washers that fit properly  around the shoulder of the stud and a NEW lug nut with grease to pull them through the hub flange.. so you don't distort it..

what's a sixteenth of an inch between friends...    0.0625 if you really want to know.. but then i could be totally wrong...

if i had access to a brake rotor lathe... i might actually chuck the bare hub up on the lathe with all the studs knocked out and a very light cut to verify the non distorted mounting face...

there is only one possible option in the 2008 arp wheel stud catalog page..

Chrysler, rear Knurl .680    ,length under head 3.125, knurl width.400  1/2-20   arp #100-7705.. this would require you to bore the hub flange..

Thanks Wayne: The problem MUST be in the "Wheelsmith" wheels I bought. They  have a (bubble)? around each hole and they are the fits all rims. With internal nubs that let the hub caps fall off.!!!
