I would like to use these for my interior screws on my 40. Does anyone have an idea for a supplier? Thanks, Joe

You might try McMaster Carr. Or possibly Gardner-Wescott.

here is the link to the screw selector at mc master carr..

i have not gotten into the types of finish they offer...

i would think that you are going to need #8 or #10 oval or flat head screws...

if you posted some head styles , sizes... it might be a bit easier..

there are a lot of places to search on the web..

I did search for general and specific sizes with no luck. I have sent McMaster an email as to the finish of their black screws. Thanks, Joel

Depending on your personal "skill sets" (modern phrase, here), as a last resort, or even the solution to your need, you might consider using good quality steel screws, and using a gunsmiths black bluing solution to black the heads, and polish them.  Another alternative that might work, but would probably need an occasional touch up would be to polish the screw heads and black them with a good quality permanent marker; I have done that before, and for a minor project, it worked pretty well; don't know just how it would hold up for the long term, though.

Advanced Plating does black chrome so you could always send him the screws you want him to plate.

Looking for old good for nothing flathead heads to use for garden project.

Thanks for the replies. I will pursue them all. Well, maybe not the "bluing" one. I don't know what "skill sets" are, much less have any. LOL. To do what I want the finish will have to survive the screw driver. Joe

If Advanced Plating plates something for you it is guaranteed for life and that includes your screw driver I'm sure.

Stick the screws in a block of aluminum for support.

Have the powder coater spray them black.

The electrical charge doesn't go into the recess of the phillips very well.
They will get a light dusting of black in the recess though.

Black powdercoating is tough enough to withstand several uses of the screwdriver.

I have a few black powdered allen heads on my 32 roadster, the wrench fit fine and several removal cycles haven't scratched them up.

Powdering hex heads works pretty well too.
Wrenches don't seem to affect them either.

One caveat - let them cure for a couple of weeks before use.
Powder is a touch soft the first day or two out of the oven.

Found this site in my search. www.mrgusa.com Thought it might have some interest to others. I am unsure of what their black coating is but hopefully will get a sample. Joe

When you get past this problem, you can polish the top of your gas tank. heehee

Well, at least you will be able to see these!

The important thing is that you know that they are there even if no one can see them.
