Hi All,
I went over to my daughters to get take the 46 ford home for the summer.
But just like every year, there is tranny fluid under the car.
less than a quart, but this tranny leaks out every year.
now after I top it off And start driving it it will not leak a drop, till next spring when I uncover it again.
it hass a G.M. 200R4 with a 400 small block.
Thanks Russ

I have the same problem on my Marlin. I believe it needs house training.

Really, my tranny guy told me it is caused by a worn pump to convertor bushing. When you drive it regularly, it is no problem, but if it sets, the air seal on the convertor neck will break causing it to leak.

On mine, it will leak one to two quarts over the winter, and when it is driven regular in the summer no leaks.

I put a pan under the car, and live with it.
Welcome to hell. Here's your accordion.

there is one possibility....

that the torque converter is draining back into the pan...  half way...  there are sealing rings on the input shaft that are to prevent it...  but over the long run... it must leak down from some where inside..

the other place to check is the bottom of the throttle valve cable...  where the end adaptor fits onto the cable casing...  i have seen them leak from there when the end pulls off slightly when the converter drains back....

there is not a lot of room in the case when the converter drains down...

Thanks,
I will just put a drip pan under it next year.
