Hello;
Well, I finally did it! I spent the whole day Saturday installing the Raingear wipers in my 57 Chevy and when I had finished, I put in my new dash with all Autometer gages. Everything went pretty good, had to make an adjustment here and there but all come out looking terrific Except:
Now when I drive the car, the new speedo's needle doesn't stay smooth, it wiggles up and down and when I go faster, it gets worse!
My old speedo (original 57 chevy) wasn't like this so I kind of think it's something to do with the gage not the exhisting speedo cable (recently put in) or anything else.
Anyone got any experiences of this sort of thing with Autometer?
The new gas gage works perfect, the water temp is hooked to power but I have not installed the sender yet as that will happen when I put the new aluminum radiator in, next!
Thanks for the wealth of knowledge here on the Roundtable.

Well, it sounds like a kink in the speedo cable, or the tip is bent where it goes in the speedo. You might try lubing the cable, that could do it too. Also a core that is too long for the casing can do that.
Welcome to hell. Here's your accordion.

Hello Again;
I just put that darn speedo cable in the thing! I will try to re-lube it with white lithium? grease. Then I will check but I don't think I have any kinks. I do know that the end going into the speedo is plastic.
Thanks for the hints I'll check it all out and see if thats the problem.
