Does anyone know what the finest micron 3/8's in line gas filter available is? I'm using a Fram which is 20 and it's too coarse.

i have been waiting for someone else to answer....

but...    and i dont know if there are any left...

the old style AC delco GF61 fuel filters... the ones with the weld on one end of the main body were good enough that when they clogged up....  i would dump clean gasoline from the carb end... and rusty nasty junk and some water from the other...  this was years ago.... the new ones are crimped together in the middle... i have not tried them... but i do not have problem any more...

the kids next door put dirt and water in the gas tank...  i had done a valve job on it... and rebuild the carb... the carb sat on the outside work bench for several days until i finished up the rest of it..   this was when there was a med fly problem here and they were dumping buckets full of them in my area...

it took 4 days of fighting the fuel filters and the strange problem of the van would run 70 like an electric motor...  other times it would run 35.. some times it would run 15 with my foot to the floor..  i finally pulled the carb off at grants pass and found 3 of the med flys in the float bowl.. they were clogging the main jets when the float level would drop when the filter clogged..

when i got back to la... a customer was waiting for me...  he was telling me about how great his car ran... most of the time... then sometimes it would only go 40 and 25...  i could not get a word in edgewise... i just told him that there were probably some bugs in the carb..  when i pulled the top off the quadra jet... and grabbed the floaters with tweezers ... he almost fell over laughing..  seems i had done his carb at the same time i did the van carb...

and placing a strong magnet in the fuel tank... will pull all the rust particals to it... and prevent most clogged fuel filters...

putting a speaker magnet on the outside will also work..  until somebody pulls it off... then puts it back...

using a speedometer cable core.. with 2 people and a variable speed drill will allow you so wind it through the fuel lines to clear them out...

fuel injected 76 through 85 eldorados and sevilles have replaceable cartrage fuel filters up under the back of the car...   every parts store and mass marketer carrys the elements for them...  same os the ford truck filters on the bottom of the fuel pumps..

hope this helps...
