After 25 years , I broke my 3/8 CP impact gun..... internal spline drive shaft is in 2 pieces..  I liked this gun , powerful , always worked till tonight.

Are the CP tools worth buying in today's  world??

I've been buying and using Sears 3/8 impact guns at work for trans work  on my bench ... I usually wear them out in 2-3 years and buy a new one. The Sears units are not as powerful as my old CP .... but work well for the bench work

If you buy the premium line, they are still great tools. The cheaper line is junk.

With this old gun , it has no model  numbers on it... at the time I bought the gun , it was colored red and was an industrial rated gun.

I have looked at a parts break out ,  I wonder if these parts would fit ?

It must have been a bad week for air tools. I crunched my 1/2 impact this weekend.
Wayne, Looking at the CP site doesn't help me much. I don't know what kind of clutch I want. I know I want easy to change sockets so I guess I want a friction ring reliese for that. I'm lost on what to buy or where to buy it.

This is what I use in 1/2" drive  http://www.tooltopia.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=38014  Hard to beat, hard to break.

This is what I would buy in a new 3/8" impact  http://www.tooltopia.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=9701  I have a CP now that is several years old. It replaces a Snapon 3/8" that was stolen when I had my breakin. The new Ingersol is as good as the Snapon, for a much better price.

IR is what I use and you can't beat them for durability and weight. They are soo light.
