Howdy from the great white north! I saw the post on lurkers and thought its about time to sign on . Ive been following along for years now, having a few laughs and getting some good pointers on building cars.Im useless with a computer which is probably why its taken me so long to sign on.I am a machinist and a high shool shop teacher. I have wanted to build a hot rod since the age of 12 when a schoolmate started building a t-bucket with his dad.I got involved in drag racing for quite a while .My last car was a front engine dragster that I built at the school where I was working.I ran the dragster with an all student crew . Sold the dragster 8 years ago and decided it was time to build a rod. I am now 8 years into the build (I found it refreshing to find out some of you build cars along the same time frame)and am finishing up the mechanical stuff. when this car is finished I will start on the car I have dreamed of since I was 12 . I have a 26T coupe sitting in the corner of my garage.Hope I can be of some use around the board as this place has helped me a bunch.

Glad to see you figured it out. I built a 4x4 Angila drag car one time, does that count?

Thanks guys for the welcome.Vance, this anglia has a 4link rear suspension on a narrowed and back braced 9" diff (28"housing width),10 point cage, rectangular tube frame with 8" narrowed chevette front suspension.the front spark plug is 5" behind the spindle and the firewall is moved back to the front edge of the doors.I used a wheel barrow to make a rounded recess in the firewall 3" farther back just the width of the engine(saw it done before & had to try it ).350/powerglide for drivetrain.and yes ,big tires, 14.5 x32 goodyears fit under the stock unwidened rear fenders.                                                                        enjenjo....4x4 wow, with the wheelbase of a shopping cart a 4x4 anglia must have been a scream to drive!                                                        fuzzy...I taught auto shop for quite a while,2 yrs ago I got the chance to teach machining and have been ever since.I try to get the kids to learn what they need to learn while doing things they find interesting.example....for the last 2 years when a kid finishes the required projects, they can make what they want .we have gained quite a reputation for making fully machined aluminum hand grenade shifter handles. the best shifter so far used the grenade side lever to actuate the shift detents.we also angle milled the head on one kids riding mower ,it raised the CR from 6.4:1 up to 9:1 (yes the class paid attention when we CC'd the head before & after and learned the math to calc CR) and yes the motor is electric start!                                                                     KB426...glad you like the name ! (I figured Floyd Cotterpin was probably taken) anyways, my buddies call me koose ,(shortened version of my last name ) and when we started talking about the overhauled episode where Foose's 56 ford truck was done ,one of the boys mentioned that I should emboss the back of my 65 ford truck endgate with 'koose' like the FOOSE endgate in the show .then the whole thing snowballed & i get labelled chimp koose! Ive rattled on long enough now but thanks again for the warm welcome.
