Is the aftermarket hoods the same thickness as an original 32? Is an original the same thickness of the body? I'm trying to figure out if I have an original or just a really ugly aftermarket.

Some are the same thickness as originals, some are thinner. I think the originals were a bit thinner than the body metal.

If it's UGLY ... it must be aftermarket ...  :)

Ford installed two very diffent types of hoods on the 32 Ford. One is the 20 vent ... and the most common. In the month of August, 1932 Ford came out with a 25 vent hood. Flathead V8 are well known to have overheating issues and the 25 vent  hood was only for V8 cars going to warm climates. Also all 400 of the 32 Ford sedan delveries had the 25 vent hood.

This is a 20 vent hood ...

This is a 25 vent hood. See how the vents are longer and are more open, in addition to having more vents.

Which do you have ??
