well after spending the last 7 or 8 years driving POS daily drivers i finally bit the bullet. as i print the weekend ads i see them a day earlier then most people. this weekend the chevy and dodge dealers all had a loss leader truck in their ads, you know base model no options. well since i can't, by work rules, take advantage of the ads early i was all ready to go to the dealer after work on sat after looking at the ads on fri. i got home from work fri and there was a local weekly throw away paper on the driveway. looked in side the weekly and there it was the same ad i just got done printing :D  after my nap i went up to the local dealer. i asked about the ad they said "oh that truck is at our other dealer location :(  but lets see what we can do" i thought they were going to pull the bait and switch on me but we found another close to base truck and they gave me the SAME deal   on it. i said close to base because i wanted a BLACK one and was willing for some minor additions to get one. i got a base plus auto tranny and cruise control in black chevy silverado. the base trucks come with some used to be extras like AM/FM, dual zone air, 4 wheel ABS disc brakes, full gauges and rear bumper so it has the useful extras. i need to put some nice wheels on it and get rid of the tall look of it but not much else. well enough of the BS here is a pic.

Don't know if that will be alowed on the salt setting that high. Better get it down or a short guy like me won't be able to get in it.

Yeah, black would would have been my first choice if I lived in Phoenix.

Still a neat-looking truck, Jim. Congrats, although I guess we have different standards for POS transportation; I thought you were driving in style and rather smart with that big black SUV during the RRT '00 SoCal  Haute Cruisne.

jim........ kool that you got a new ride.

i know you have wanted a truck / elcamino for a while.  Some wheels and a bed cover mayb?

Don't go to wacky on the lower job if you are going to use it as a truck. I lowered our Ford supercrew F-150 only 2 inches front and rear.

We really like it and I can hook a trailer to the truck with no aux  air bags needed.

Uh oh....the boys over at the Ford Truck Enthusiasts forum aren't going to be happy

Nice truck Jim.   I had a black truck once and it sure was pretty when it was clean.  I drive on a lot of dirt roads tho and black is just too much work to keep it clean.  I've switched to silver now.  It can get pretty dirty without looking too bad.

With the high gas prices I've noticed that some of the dealers are making some real good deals.

yea the way i figure that perfect elcamino deal will show the next weekend :D

i'll prolly go with a 4front/6rear drop and maybe use bags for towing. i actually have access to two other trucks for towing purposes if i needed them. i just needed a truck for hauling stuff like rear axles, engines,
you know stuff like that.
