I just got me a new Multi-point EFI for my 355 Small Block Chevy. I run my engine with a 180 thermostat. I have a Walker Radiator with A/C.
Should I go back with a 195 thermostat or stay with the 180? Is there any need to go higher with EFI ?
Thanks , Rick Harris

The big factor is what the computer expects the temp to run at.  My S10 had the thermostat stick part-way open and it wouldn't fully heat up.  It ran rich because it thought it was still warming, and it was at around the 180 point.  I put the new thermostat in and it went back to normal.  Some systems can be tuned to allow a cooler thermostat in which case that can be done, but I've read that engine wear is less on the newer engines at a higher temp.  195 isn't uncommon on an EFI

UGLY OLDS

Talk to the folks that supplied your EFI kit & ask how the chip was programed....Like Leon says...The program,( fuel maps & spark curves),will be VERY specific to operating temp.... 8)

Ideally, you want the oil to get over 210,to drive of moisture.
Oil runs,20-30 degrees hotter than the water IIRC.

195 might sound hot,but works well.
