Does anybody know where the id number is on the engine from a 99 explorer 5.0?

Ford has not put VIN numbers on engines for many years. There are two ways to identify one. There will be a paper tag on the rocker cover, that number can identify it. The other identifier is a casting number just above the starter on the side of the block.
