Detroit Locker questions?

How much axle play is normal for a 9" detroit locker? I have .010" backlash on gears but there seems like alot of axle play. About 1/16 or so pinion movement  before wheel turns. Is there an adjustment to the locker unit to decrease this? It was fine with an auto but went to a 5spd and it is quite noticable now. Thanks.
