Is there a throttle body efi that I can put on a 302 Ford without using the ec3 Ford sytem or the Holley or Edelbrock? Preferably without spending serious money?

You can use a GM throttle body on an adapter on any 4 barrel manifold, You can either adapt the GM computer and sensors, using a Painless harness, or go with a Mega Squirt setup. This can all be done for not much more than the price of a new Holley.

Which throttle body do I need to look for? Is there anything else besides the harness, ecu, and the sensors that I need?

A 4.3 V6or any V8 throttle body will work. The V6 will need the injectors changed. 305 or 350 injectors will work as is. If you want to go this route, I can make you a killer deal on an adapter to a 4 barrel manifold.

Then you will need the control module,sensors, and harness. For ignition, use one of the HEI distributors they make for a 302, install a 7 pin module, and lock out the advance.
