I have ABS breaks on my 99 GMC 1500. The warning light stays on and the pump keeps running even after I turn the ignition off. I have to pull the fuse to get it to stop.
Some how I don't think this is going to be an acceptable long term fix. Anyone have any suggestions as to where to start looking?

The ABS relay inside the brake control module is shorted on.
It is not serviceable by itself, you have to replace the entire module assembly.
A pretty expensive fix, Here in canada it runs about 900$C for the module.
Replacing it is fairly easy 4 screws and 3 connectors.
Some guys leave the fuse out and run on base brakes

Yup.....If you know HOW to drive on STANDARD brakes......
PULL the fuse and drive on them. LEAVE the ABS unplugged...... $.02
If we are what we eat.........
Then I am fast, cheap and easy.

Thanks guys, I was hoping it was a cheep fix, like a sensor or something. Driving on regular brakes is no problem. Now if I can just find where I put the black tape to cover the stupid light I'll be in hog heaven.

That's only about $40 in real money isn't it?<G>
