Anybody running one?

I'm thinking about replacing the tired Holley on my Coupe. :?

was looking at the Speedway catalog, they have a Road Demon jr for about the same cost as a new Holley.
I have run Holleys for years, and I'm a creature of habit
however, I'm not opposed to change. I really don't want an Edelbrock carb. I have heard and read about too many "tuning" issues. besides, I don't like they way they look

any opinions are welcome.

I'm kind of on the other side of the fence in that debate, because all I have ever run is Edelbrocks (on the street).

The general concensus is that Holleys are a better drag carb, but Edelbrocks are more dependable and forgiving in day to day driving situations. As for tuning, never had to. I just bolt them on and drive away.  I ran 2 x 500 cfms on my 302 powered '27 for years and years, and also run one on my 5.0 powered Jeep. Both have been flawless.

Of course, you have to remember, I grew up in the AFB generation, and ran these on my rods in those days, so like you, I am a creature of habit.

I've wondered about the Demons too, though.

Carnut

They make carburetors other than AFB's?

#1   wanna buy a 750 carter afb?
very few miles....

#2 demons are prolly the best out of the box performance carb i've had to deal with (we're at 5K ft)
The last thing I want to do is hurt you. But it\'s still on my list

If you get one, be prepared spend some time getting it dialed in. They flow a lot more that what they are rated, so if you think you need a 750, you probably want to go one size smaller. And make sure you take it apart and check for crap inside left over from the machining process. Demons are notorious for having metal shavings inside,  and this can really screw things up.

Thanks Lynn, I appreciate the info. 8)

I'm looking at the Road Demon jr. 625 CFM
no choke, vacuum secondaries.
750 would be a bit overkill for my SBC

I really appreciate everyones input. Thanks :D

guess now I gotta make some decisions............... :?

Im on my 3rd edelbrock on the coupe and its junk. All the other ones worked great but this one stumbles going around corners at low speed and i cant seem to fix it. Ill prolly buy another one for the roadster though.

I have one on my shopping list when I get my 383 in my ElCamino.

I've heard great things about Demon..... Performance of a Holly and the
simplicity of a Edelbrock.

From what I've heard, they are not simple, in fact, they have more adjustments than a Holley. The best thing about them is the billet metering blocks and their range of adjustability. Some guys that don't like or don't understand how to tune a carburetor say they hate them. Other guys who know how to make all the adjustments like them.
