Been seeing old cars every now and then on the traffic cams on mstraffic.com on the Coast. The Sun Herald (http://www.sunherald.com/mld/sunherald/) has had some articles and pictures about the event so far. They say that there are 4,000 registered.

Al, I should have sent you my preregistration package.  You could tell um you highly customized a '32 roadster so it looks just like a '40 Chevy.  It just wasn't in the cards for us to make it back there this year, and some of my outlaws are showing up this weekend so I'll be here.  If you do get down there look for my buddy Cliff's black A Vickie hiboy and say howdy.

Lee, I'm going in the opposite end of the state this weekend for a football game. I only have 2 vacation days left this year to use and I am saving them for the end of the year.

Here's a report from Jack Brown, a friend of mine, who was at the event:

"CTC was a blast with the best weather ever!!!!  Was amazed at the spirit of the locals on the coast.   They seemed so hungry for something different like CTC.   Coming into town on Monday, a beat up Toyota pickup pulled up beside us at a stoplight.   An old guy waved out his window and said "Hey we're glad to have y'all back."  That sort of set the tone for the whole weekend.  Absolutely hated to come home.  Next year I'll bet they have a record crowd.  We found several new routes around the area and some great new places to eat.  Nothing new under construction on 90 yet except 3 condos and some home restoration.  They're still cleaning up.  Talked with many locals and heard some unbelievable storm stories.  One guy lost 3 vettes and had just this week moved into his house from a FEMA trailer.  He said it was wonderful to sleep on a real mattress on a real bed after a year.  The motel where we stayed was hungry for business and really went out of their way to do stuff for us.  (except lower rates).   Gave us some shop towels with CTC 2006 and hotel logo on them.   Did see one brand new Waffle House being built on 90  Casinos were almost impossible to enter from 90 as they were trying to fix up the three that were barely open.  Only thing finished was Beau Rivage.  We didn't event try to go in any of them.  They gave almost no support to CTC this year compared to previous.   Isle of Capri had Boyd Coddington coming Saturday to unveil a '40 woody he built for them .  The three outdoor night concerts, two at Rice pavillion and one at the old Wal Mart parking lot, were packed out with folks including a bunch of locals and they all really jumped with good ole rock & roll music groups.  Coke and Wal-Mart sponsored them and this may be the new entertainment trend, especially if they ever have weather this good again. With the fantastic weather, t-buckets, roadsters and convertibles were the envy of us all.   With nobody else from here coming down there until late weekend, CB and I just set our own schedule and did our own thing.  It was probably the best time we've ever had down there.  Saw a lot of other friends from all over.  Seems like not as much out-of-state participation as usual, but did see tags from Ohio, Wisconsin and Misssouri.   Went to block party in Biloxi and was 3rd from last car to get in before they closed it for lack of space.  In Ocean Springs, they had opened 2 new streets to park on and with Bay St. Louis so hard to get to, Ocean Springs was the new hot spot to spend the day.  Edgewater Mall had bands at night for 2 nights and a lot of people hung out there too.  The giveaway car for next year is one fine ride.  Although rat rod style, it had a ton of unique things built into it.   Saw the most unique roadster from Nevada with a Las Vegas theme.  He had a deck of cards airbrushed on the side and the gauges faces were all done to look like the dials on slot machines.  Almost got up this morning and went back.  But we are both just absolutely worn out, even though we sat in front of the hotel under that big oak tree a lot.  Thursday we left motel at 8 a.m. and got back at 6 p.m.  We were worn out but happy.  Put almost 200 miles on coupe cruzin around there and it sounds like it's bout to fall apart like us.   Age has caught up with us at last.  But already I can't wait to get back down there next year.   Y'all know nobody has any more fun down there than me.  It was a really fun week, we even made it into two newspapers.  And a Bentley with the Viper engine w/ airbag suuspension and the 73 VW convertible w 350 chevy and S-10 rear end were some of the car memories that stuck with us."
