Has anyone repaced their shielded rollers with torringtons and spacers?
Pro's and Con's??
I have the 39 spindles on my 30 (Buick) and the difference in height dictates machining the axles bosses (1/8" difference, so 1/16 off the top and bottom) OR going to a thinner bearing height.
Your thoughts....?

Thanks,
Stevie G

http://www.mcmaster.com/  Lists some steel ball thrust bearings in a thickness of 0.37 that might work for you. The Torrington type bearings are on the same page, 1023. Torrington bearings are not very tolerant of dirt.

I've already ordered a set.  I figure they were cheap enough to expirement a little.  I figure I'll disect the old bearing and use the shield for added protection then just be vigilant about keeping them greased.  Maybe put a small zerk in the spacer and drill it to output on the torrington.
I'll keep you"Posted"
