As for the heads, I'm not sure about 429's. Someone else on here will probably know.  Mine are like '73 heads that I bought from a drag racer who went to Cobra Jet aluminum heads, so I got his freshly finished heads at a good price.  You don't really need to do much to wake up a 460, like you said, better cam, dual plane intake, about an 800 cfm carb, good ignition, headers and perhaps some head modifications will yield surprising HP. In a light car they are dynamite. Traction becomes an issue though.

The head deal may be refering to the chamber shape. Just like bb chevy, open or closed chamber. I had 460's in pickups. I also put a 429 in my 67 Shelby GT. (Please don;t ask). The 460 is just bigger and has a little more torque. But, if you're comparing to the fe series, there's a lot of differences. One's a dinosaur, one's semi-modern.

i used a sb ford efi with the waterpump from ford motorsport it's now even 1. 1/2 inch shorter then a sb chevy ,
but if you want big inches in a motor man o war are selling sb from 302 to 460 cid , talk about surpice someone whats under the hood
