Worst blown engine

I was a 6236 -- Avionics Fire Control Technician
Worked on the F4-B phantom jets.

The Mach 1,
We were on power tour out of Detroit going into Chicago,when it came apart on the expressway,next to a cement wall in the high speed lane.
We still have one of the bent rods,it's bent 90o.
That was a ride to get it stoped.

I ran a VW powered drag car in late 70s. It broke a rod at about 8500rpm on the starting line at the last yellow. Opened a hole about 8 in. square in top of block. Saved the headers & Webers, not much else .

Seen a Top Methanol Dragster do that over here, team put the block on display in their pits area. I think their reaction was "whoops" :D
