The AOL program took a dump on one of our computers.....The wife talked to a tech and after assuring her that nothing would be lost, she continued to follow his instructions.....Well....Guess What   I just got a new computer for myself and had transferred my address book but hadn't gotten around to moving my Favorites.....They are now GONE! Any chance of recovering them??Any ideas?? Thanks!!

I would think you could log in to aol and they would be there. Try it! If you can still read the drive, look in the directory of c: aol/favorits ( or somthing like that, then copy it!

Good news:There are Data Recovery Specialists who can recover
almost any deleted data, from your hard drive,as long as it hasn't
been writen over.Not a problem.

Bad News:They don't do it out of the goodness of their hearts,
so expect to pay.

Depends on how valuable the info is to you.

i can't help get them back but can help not lose them in the future. periodicly i will send a copy of my favorites to my junk mail (yahoo)mailbox. then if my puter crashes or i'm at another puter i can log on to yahoo and find them.

PS the best thing i ever did was get rid of AOL :D

Not worth paying to recover.....mostly just parts/supplier/tech sites....this place is about as good of a resource as a guy needs :P I agree.....AOL sucks.....we have a cable hookup as well but like using the AOL mail setup....just old habit I guess....probably should quit paying for both services and use the extra money to buy beer! Great idea for a backup...Thanks!
