A friend of mine, Jack Brown, from Byram, MS told me about a website that has the history of racing in Mississippi from the 1940's to the 1970's. You can view it by going here:

A street rod is a vehicle made before 1949 that is modified with modern stuff: bigger motors; newer trans; updated suspension, front & rear; a/c.
Following is a street rod plus definition: No known definition because it changes.

I went to a racing vehicle car show on Saturday to see my friend, Jack's old race car that he bought in 2005. He had it and the Miss Chicken car on display there.

On Jack's car, they used a Crosley rear end to stablize the steering.

Grownin up in up state NY, my childhood heroes were local dirt track pilots. Otto Graham was one of them and he has those memories on his web site. Visit him and sling a li'l mud.
