Carps, what you guys have done for Charlie is so awesome.  Hopefully, seeing this will remind some of us to extend goodwill and bring happiness to friends and acquaintances in our lives.

Giving of ourselves not only means a lot to the Charlie's of the world.....it is also very personally rewarding.

George, whilst I appreciate it, I don't deserve your praise, everybody who participated deserves it in equal ammounts, including those who helped behind the scenes with donations of cash, goods,  or however else they couldd because they could not be there on the day.

If anybody should be singled out, it is Mike Claridge for being the first to read of Charlies plight and not hesitating in making the calls to get us rolling and then keeping us rolling.

I think Mick Kelly summed up the day best of all and before I quote his words I'd like to paint a picture of Mick to help you understand what happened yesterday.  We aall know somebody a bit like Mick who is a typical working class Aussie bloke, well maybe not 100% typical since he's built like the proverbial brick dunny (that is to say he looks like he could be Arnie's movie double).  For a living Mick manhandles a rig known downunder as a 'B Double' (or by US terms a 34 Wheeler), it weighs in around 65 ton and looks like a semi with not one but two 50' trailers attached.  He does long haul interstate routes or drags the big containers from the docks.  Of course he has a few tats and his haircut doesn't help make him appear any less intimidating to those who don't know the man behind the 'look' and as you know, the typical Aussie bloke is not inlcined to wax lyrical, nor get too sentimental or mushy, which is why Mick's words are just so bloody pwerful.

Quoting Mick Kelly.
To ....  all who attended. Thanks for a great day.

They say to give is better than to receive.

Today I learnt that lesson big time. I went home and relayed that message to Irene'. If I never have another Christmas I won't mind. Today will never be beaten. To see the look on Charlies' face said it all.

That man had a ball. To just be involved in giving a fellow human being so much pleasure is the best gift I could ever receive.

I am still on a natural high it was just so bloody good.

I also could not help but notice the care and dedication showed to Charlie by his carer "Annette" lady you are a bloody saint!

If I live to be 100 years old (which will not happen) today will be permantly etched in my mind for ever.

Mick Kelly.

And that's something even my best photography simply can't illustrate, you just had to be there.

Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is a gift.

Hey Carps , I know  that Mike fella fairly well and know he wouldnt wanna be singled out cos if it wasnt him who started it happening it would've been someone else , but i can assure you he'd have been along to help.

The day was a real buzz ... to be there and see such a frail very sick man whose nervous excitement made him shake uncontrolably get lifted into a 34 Roadster to begin his big day out was just so special.

i too cant think of another day on which i gained so much.

.
I\'d rather a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomomy !!!

maybe so, but you were the one who DID act fast, others helped out in any way they could, and help out they did.
The old saying "build it and they will come" comes to mind.

We all gained something from this Mike, in many ways.
I know I was the first person you called with this idea, and for that I am honoured to have been involved with it all.
