Ford starter interchange

Does anyone know if a starter from a 2.3 198? Ranger would fit a 2.3 1992 Mecury Topaz? My daughters starter is failing on her car and I have a engine/trans from an older Ranger in the garage with what I know to be a good starter. I can't crawl under her car to see her starter due to a bum back this week.

i looked up both at carparts.com and it came up with different part numbers. i used 88 for the ranger so a different year might still match but it looks like you're outta luck. sorry
