I'd say it's a front wheel drive 1st generation  Olds Toronado or cadillac - whatever they were engine transmission. A lot of those made their way into mid-engine kit cars, racer replicas and others

Thats pretty slick. I saw a Corvair with a Caddy drivetrain a few years ago. He didn't bother with hiding it though.
