In 1938, the Natchez Trace Parkway opened. It stretches from below Nashville, TN to Natchez, MS. One section of this historic trail was never developed until now and on Saturday, May 21, 2005 it will open. So how do you open the last section? With old cars of course! There will be a parade of '38 cars to the present starting above Jackson, MS (where the last completed section is at) and going to Natchez, MS. See the website for more info:

Should be a site to see this Saturday.
A street rod is a vehicle made before 1949 that is modified with modern stuff: bigger motors; newer trans; updated suspension, front & rear; a/c.
Following is a street rod plus definition: No known definition because it changes.

Honk your horn for me when you get to Natchez. I lived there for 37 years before I moved to south Florida. Once I get my truck on the road I am going to make a trip up thru there and drive the trace up to Nashville. That is one beautiful drive along the Natchez Trace.

We came, we saw, we went. They already supposedly had the 67 cars lined up for this parade so a group of us in my car club just got together and went on a picnic at Rocky Springs. We had to convince the highway patrol officers to let us on the Trace. Some of our friends were stuck in Clinton, MS where they had the Trace blocked off, so they were behind the parade. We got down to Rocky Springs where a few more folks in old cars were there waiting. We got our lawn chairs out and sat down just in time for the park ranger cars to start coming by escorting the group. Had about 20 or more regular everyday cars with federal, state, & local officials in them we guessed. Then the old cars came by. After that there was a group of RVs that were in the parade. The whole parade lasted 5 minutes! Took longer than that to get down there, but the cruise was nice and I got to drive my car. Didn't go to Natchez, came through there a few weeks ago on the way back home from Baton Rouge, LA.

Well least you got to take your car out on a nice ride with some good friends. You drove by my old employer, I worked at the Caterpillar dealer on 61 north just out of Natchez for 20 years.
