Wow, he was 80 years old already?  Time goes by way too fast.

If GM had listened to him about the Japanese threat, they wouldn't be on the verge of becoming the number two automaker in the world, instead of number one. He wrote a book about GM, "On a Clear Day You Can See General Motors"and predicted just what would happen, and it has come to pass pretty much as he said. Even after what he did for GM with the GTO, and the Midsize GP, management  wouldn't listen to him.

And with the right circumstances, the Delorean would have been the car he wanted to build, not what it ended up being. There is a lot of politics in the automotive world too.

the delorean was quite different from what he designed on paper.

It was / is a pile of bolts.  A shame it ended up as it did  IMHO
