I was going to drive my 61 Morris to work on tuesday.  For some wise reason I started a quick check up of the ol car on monday night.

I found a voltage problem. Only  12.4 volts at the battery while runing. With the lights on it was 12.2 volts.  A rev of the engine and the volts dropped to 12.0 !

So I did not drive the Morris to work today.

I  pulled  the generator off and then apart.  In the photo the light colored line of "stuff " is solder slung off the armature wires.  Now I know why the voltage was low.  I guess my high speed antics got to the ol genny.  It must have gotten hot for some reason to throw off the solder from the joints.

Time for a GM 1 wire alt on the ol Morrie.  I hope the GM unit will hold up to the thrashing I give the ol girl from time to time...
