I have this unit in the shop.  I did not buy it from Snap on. The unit was repossesed from a guy by my Snap on dealer.

He is letting me try it out.  Not enough power though.  It is a 110 volt , 25 amp deal .  It will not cut what I am wanting to cut.

It cuts sheet metal great.

10 guage cuts OK

I guess I need to look at 220 volt stuff  as we discussed a while back.

Thanks,
Tony

My tool hardly works now , I dont need to cut it shorter.

I started out with some 3/8 steel..... this machine hardly cut a notch into the metal.   I ground the steel so it was shiney to see if that helped.  Nope.

I got some angle iron out..... 1/8 inch thick. Cut it slowly.

I cut out a section in a tranny dust cover ( it was just sitting there , I used it)...... it cut very quickly.

This is a 110 volt , 25 amp output unit.

the Snappy dealer had new parts on the torch when he gave it to me.

The snappy dealer tells me , " I'll see you next week and how you like it" ..... I smile and tell him "ya know they fired a guy yesterday, he's gone and won't be back"

I got one of those blank stares from him....a priceless moment.

1/8 inch is about the practical limit for that machine. 3/8" steel will take 45 to 50 amps, aluminum a bit more.
Welcome to hell. Here's your accordion.

The Mac man let try out one of Macs 220v units for a week. It took about an hour before I called him and ordered the Hypertherm. He also let tryout one of their mig welders, it took about the same amount of time to rate it. It's probably best to get your welding and cutting stuff from welding and cutting specialists.

I tried a different plazma cutting machine. A Miller 375 Spectrum.

In the photo, the first POOR cut was from the Snap On machine I tested in the above post.

The second photo is the Miller plasma  cuts on the same piece of material.... 3/16 angle iron.

The PRI trade show is coming up, we will be looking for some deals on Miller machines

Tony,
Are you going to Indianapolis of the PRI show? Or do they have one out there too? I am going to the Indy show on december 10th.

I will not be at the PRI show in Indy.

a couple of guys from work are going.  I have one of the owners of Hughes Performance  on the outlook for a Miller plasma machine.  That is how I bought my miller 210 mig welder
